Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Tunify:

  • Account details (email address) via Clerk authentication
  • Car details you enter: make, model, year, trim, engine, generation, region, existing mods, and mileage
  • Generated guides and modification history associated with your account
  • Community feedback you submit (confirmations, step flags):stored in aggregate and linked to your account ID
  • Subscription and billing information processed by Stripe (we do not store your card number or full card details)
  • Usage data: rate-limit counters, guide generation timestamps, and your preferred unit settings

2. How We Use It

Your data is used solely to provide and improve the Service:

  • Generating AI guides tailored to your vehicle
  • Enforcing plan limits and processing payments
  • Displaying community verification stats on guides
  • Communicating account-related information (receipts, billing notices)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following processors only to the extent necessary to provide the Service:

  • Clerk: authentication and session management. Your email address and account identity are stored by Clerk. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe: payment processing. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and are never stored on our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Neon (database hosting): our PostgreSQL database, where car profiles, guides, and community data are stored.
  • OpenAI: guide generation. When you generate a guide, your car's make, model, year, trim, engine, and the modification you selected are sent to OpenAI's API. No other personal data (email, mileage) is sent.
  • Brave Search / YouTube Data API: research queries. The car make, model, year, and mod name are sent as search queries to retrieve relevant sources. No personal data is included.
  • PostHog: product analytics, used only if you consent. PostHog collects page views, feature interactions (e.g. which cars you search for, which guides you generate), and session data to help us understand how the app is used and where it can be improved. No advertising profiles are built. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or contacting us. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies and Analytics

Strictly necessary cookies are always active. These are set by Clerk for authentication and session management. No consent is required for these.

Analytics cookies are optional and only activated if you click "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner. We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data (page views, feature clicks, funnel steps). This data is used solely to improve the product. No advertising or profiling is done.

You can change your analytics preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage (key: cookie_consent). Refreshing the page will show the banner again.

Our application fonts are served directly from our own domain via Next.js's built-in font optimisation — no requests are made to Google Fonts servers.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete a car profile, all guides and associated data for that car are deleted. If you delete your account data (see Section 6 below), all personal data stored in our database is deleted immediately.

Stripe may retain billing records for legal and tax compliance purposes even after you delete your data with us. Clerk may retain minimal account data for security purposes; contact Clerk to request deletion of your Clerk account.

6. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. EU, UK, and California residents have additional rights including portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Self-serve deletion (recommended):

Log in to your account, go to your Garage, scroll to the bottom, and use the "Delete all my data" button. This immediately and permanently deletes all car profiles, guides, community feedback, and usage data associated with your account from our database.

Full account deletion:

The self-serve button above clears all data from our database. To also delete your Clerk login credentials, email us at support@tunify.io and we will delete your Clerk account. We will process all erasure requests within 30 days.

7. Contact and Supervisory Authority

If you are an EU/UK resident and believe we have not adequately addressed your privacy concerns, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the ICO in the UK or your national DPA in the EU).
